About Our Staff Originally Diamondback Grill included Murphy's parents, his brother Mike and his wife, later joined by Murphy's wife Kimberly. Along the way as the restaurant family has grown and changed, the current long-term staff and beloved team of alumni have continued to stay in touch, and many drop in to visit. Some old staffers may show at the staff Christmas party, or may get called in to help out with a catering function. Diamondback is a family restaurant with it's own family that's larger than and more important than the restaurant itself. And we think the secret of the restaurant's success is that our customers feel the connectedness of being our extended family. Here are some details about some of Diamondback's regular staffers:
Murphy - Murphy is the third generation of his family in the restaurant business. Once it's in the gene pool, you just can't get it out of your blood. But pay attention to the details like Murphy's grandfather said -- if you want to make a small fortune, start with a large one, then open a restaurant! Kimberly - Murphy's wife Kimberly has the eye for the details, the flowers, the music, the lighting, the décor, the customer's smiles or frowns, plate presentations, you name it. The customers have a better experience because she wants to exceed their expectations every day. Dean - Dean came with the store!! He is the spirit of Diamondback. In fact, Murphy's son Jay caught his first fish with Dean. Tammy is our assistant manager. If Dean is the spirit of DB, Tammy is our soul and backbone. Always in a good mood, constantly organized, quick to solve a problem and full of good ideas and smiles – you’re in good hands with Tammy. Brad Moore and Ben Gordon are our chefs. They are incredibly talented and we are so glad to have them. Isaias Cruz part of our kitchen staff and we certainly couldn't do it without him. Phillip Barton, Andrea Wilson and Dean are our amazing bartenders. Very few folks can serve up cocktails for 150, wait on 20 more, keep the music and 5 tvs dialed in, answer the phone and stoke the fire – but these folks can. Bernard - Not only has Bernard been at Diamondback 15 years, but on occasion has walked five miles to work. You can find him napping on our sofa every day from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Maybe that's why he's never called in sick.
There are eight couples who have met and married while working at Diamondback, and seven of them are still together! That's an 88% success rate, roughly twice the national average.
