The menu at Diamondback Grill features the kind of simple, honest and utterly delicious food that someone who really knows how to cook and loves to create would serve their family. We borrow from our heritage shrimp and grits, barbecued ribs, Brunswick stew, crab cakes from the Carolinas, and chowders and lobster from New England. We use only whats fresh, and then turn those seasonal ingredients into something special, made from scratch. This philosophy goes into our sauces and soups, dressings and desserts, salads and steaks. And Diamondback is not afraid of flavor we season with fresh herbs and peppers, and make interesting chutneys and butters to complement our various meat and fish selections. We have some kid-friendly foods, too, because happier children make happier adults. And, by the way, if you have children and they are not happy, we have 18-year-old MaCallan, Grey Goose, 10 beers on draught and 31 wines-by-the-glass any one of which will help you better understand why they are not happy and why it is your fault. |

| Our World Famous Salt Pie
When The Silver Palate called and invited Murphy and his brother MIke to come to New York to sample Diamondbacks bread and pies that they'd heard were hard to beat, the two cooked for days, loaded up their Chevy Blazer and drove all night to Manhattan. The Silver Palate was particularly interested in Diamondbacks pecan pie, which they were going to sample that day at lunch after the morning meeting. The two brothers left feeling like they were on the verge of being "discovered". Before leaving town they stopped by a friends apartment on the Upper East Side, and left him an extra pecan pie to sample, then were on Cloud Nine cruising down the New Jersey Turnpike heading for home when their cell phone rang. Their friend had just tried the pecan pie and it seemed a little salty. In a panic Murphy and Mike crossed six lanes of traffic, and pulled off on the side of the parkway, and bit into their last pie, the saltiest one either had ever tasted. For those of you that are not bakers, each pecan pie has about one cup of sugar and zero salt an hour of tears was followed by eight hours of laughter on the drive back to North Carolina. When Murphy and Mike returned home, they discovered a staff member had accidentally dumped a 50-pound bag of salt into the sugar bin. Needless to say, they never heard back from The Silver Palate but the two brothers continue to laugh about their "world famous salt pie". |
